Updated 8/08/2011
In response to the growing popularity of the Car Boot Sale we have now implemented changes to traffic flow. This now means that cars entering the car boot sale from the Newdigate/Charlwood direction are directed into a seperate gate from those coming from the Rusper/Dorking direction. This has freed up congestion at the main entrance and drastically speeded up entrance onto site.
END OF FREE DISABLED PARKING (yet to be enforced)
We have always provided free disabled parking for badge holders who arrive from 12pm. This year however it seems that a lot of visitors are abusing this. We are aware that large amounts of perfectly fit and healthy people are borrowing badges from relatives and friends, purely to enter the boot sale for free and get prime parking spaces.
This abuse has led to genuinly less able bodied people who are bonafide badge holders to be forced to park further away.
In order to stop this blatant misuse of the disabled parking areas we will now be charging ALL visitors the £1 parking fee. In turn we will have 'new' dedicated marshals located at the disabled areas checking badges and ensuring that spaces are only taken by those visitors that genuinley need them.
We understand and appreciate that not all people hold disabled blue badges but may still have mobility issues. Our marshals are keen to ensure that whenever possible these visitors receive preferential parking. Sadly, the abuse and outright laziness of some visitors has made this difficult to achieve.
A standard parking fee for everyone will enable us to better enforce the parking areas with additional marshals and ensure that those persons who genuinly require 'closer' parking spaces actually get them.
You are welcome to email me or put any comments on our forum.
This change will take place in the next couple of weeks.
We are making some small but necessary changes to our event. These changes are to help us continue to deliver the relaxed, friendly boot sale that has made us so popular.
A small increase in pitch fees and a set all day parking fee will help cover additional costs in land rental, staffing and our continued support of local charities.
PARKING LOCATION & FEE
All visitors (non-stall holders) arriving before 11.30am will now be parked in the second field area. The gate to the sellers field will be opened at 11.30am (early entry time).
ALL visitor parking will now be £1.00 per car.
FOOD & DRINK SALES
NO unauthorised food or drink sales will be permitted. Stall holders wishing to sell small quantities of home produce please contact us beforehand.
NO SALES OR EXCHANGES OF GOODS
No sale or exchange of goods will be permitted before 11.30am. This applies to everyone. This new rule is to stop dealers from finding ways to access the stall holders area before the public.
PITCH FEES
Standard pitch fees will now be £8.50
Due to the size of the event we will now be collecting pitch fees shortly after you arrive. Please have your pitch fee ready for the stall holders marshal.
ADDITIONAL CATERING
An additional catering stall offering Jacket Potatoes, along with burgers and beverages will be located in the second field. This will be accompanied by a small picnic rest area.
CHARITY STALLS
We are delighted to continue supporting registered charities and local fundraiser stalls by offering discounts. We are only able to do this if we are contacted in advance of your attending.
