Whilst the village of Rusper is on the furthest outskirts of the county it is a real gem among Sussex Villages. The village sports beautiful 'chocolate box' houses, many dating before the 18th century. The spiritual core of the village is the picteresque church with it's fabulous bells. The village has a fantastic and friendly community whom exemplifiy the spirit of rural life.

When we introduced our car boot sale on the outer boundary of Rusper we were of course very cautious not to upset that spirit. As our event grew we were amazed and very grateful for the support that we received locally not just from the great folk of Rusper but also from the neighbouring village of Newdigate.

The event has continued to become ever more popular and we endevour every season to ensure that our impact on the village is as positive as possible.

Our mission has always been to provide a quality, enjoyable event that is community minded. We have worked whenever possible to support local charities and fundraisers by providing free pitches and making donations that include charities in Crawley, Horsham and Dorking. Last year we were pleased to make our first donations to the local playgroup and church in Rusper.

As visitor numbers have grown we have reworked our impact and risk assesments. Each time devising more efficient and workable solutions to rising levels of traffic. Last year we cancelled one event as to not hinder the progress of the capital to coast charity race that is routed through the village.

We have successfully managed to work the event traffic around the tractors, horses and weekend cyclists that regularly use the road without a single incident. This year we have devised a further traffic management scheme that we are confident will safely, smoothly and efficiently eliminate those times when there has been a longer than desired queue of traffic.

The Rusper Car Boot Sale has earned the label 'The Posh Boot Sale' perhaps because many of our visitors turn up in expensive cars! I think however the true reason it is so well regarded is that it has simply become as much a local gathering point for a chat and a cup of tea as it has a valuable venue for reycling unwanted goods.

We have worked hard to create this social event and have strived to keep to our core community values. Though, much of our success is owed to the continued local support that we recieve. 

It is important to us that for those few hours on Sunday afternoons that we continue to bring together a quality community event whilst having a positive local impact.
