Please remember all car boot sales differ, the faq's listed below relate just to the Rusper Sussex Surrey Car Boot Sale. Is it a big car boot sale?

It's fair to say our car boot sale it is now a decent size, not too big and not too small! We attract up to 200 stall holders and more than 2,500 visitors each Sunday.


Rusper Car Boot Sale - FAQ - Can I Bring my dog?

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Dogs are welcome at our Car Boot Sale. We do ask that your dog is on a lead and that you bring a poop scoop and use it. We advise all pet owners that there is very limited shade in the parking area and that it is not advisable to leave pets in vehicles during hot days. We would also like to remind pet owners that they are legally responsible for the conduct of their pets.

Pet-Point. On warmer days please feel free to let your dog use the fresh water bowls specially provided at the car park entrance point in field No.1.

Not all car boot sales allow pets at their events so if going to another car boot sale do check with the organisers first. This can be especially true with hardstanding and council operated car boot sales. At our car boot sale we encouarge owners to bring along their dogs, after all they are part of the family. We do not like to see dogs left in cars. There are easily accessable public footpaths bordering our boot sale which are perfect for dog walking along the sussex surrey border.


Rusper Car Boot Sale - FAQ - Is there disabled parking?

Is there disabled parking at the boot sale?

Yes. At the Rusper Car Boot Sale we provide two large areas for disabled parking in both fields. These areas are located very close to the boot sale stall holders areas, toilet, refreshment & picnic spots. The disabled parking bays at our boot sale are strictly for disabled badge holders only! You must show the traffic marshals your official blue badge in order to use the designated parking bays.

From 12pm onwards the car boots sale disabled parking bays are FREE of charge at our car boot sale.

We appreciate that some visitors to our car boot sale may have mobility problems but are not disabled badge holders. If you do need assistance with your parking location then please inform a boot sale parking marshal.  


Rusper Car Boot Sale - FAQ - Can I arrive early?

Can I arrive early?

We prefer everyone to arrive at the car boot sale at the correct times. If you do have to turn up early there is a small temporary car park but it does not mean you will be first in. If you do arrive early then be prepared to wait.

In 2011 we will not permit the exchange of any goods at the car boot sale before 11.30am when a claxon horn is sounded.

Rusper Car Boot SAle - FAQ - Do you cahrge more for people carriers?

Do you charge more for large cars?

No. All cars, 4x4's and people carriers are charged one single price. Vans and commercial sized vehicles etc are at a different tarrif. Stall holders who require additional space on top of the generous pitch sizes offered may be charged an additional fee.

How much space do I get for my Stall?

Unless otherwise requested all stalls are set up along the side of the stall holders vehicle. This means most car boot stall holders will have no problem putting out two full lenght standard tables. In most cases there is room for upto three tables but this is not garunteed.

Car Boot Sale Catering

Can I get food and drink?

Yes. There are two catering units at our car boot sale both providing hot and cold refreshments. The Country Kitchen offers hot pies, pasties and jacket-potatoes along with other vegeterian options.

We also have a regular local ice cream van during the warmer weeks.

Our car boot sale also provides several picnic areas with tables and chairs for your comfort.

We do not allow the sale of other other foods without prior agreement.


Rusper Car Boot Sale - FAQ - Can I park with a friend?

Can I park with a friend?

Yes. It's a great way of doing a car boot sale and is usually not a problem at our event. We do recommend that you pre-book your pitches in advance to be certain. However, if you ensure that all parties arrive at the same time and you inform the parking marshals that you are together then we'll do our very best to get you parked up together.


Car Boot Sale - FAQ - Reserve a Pitch

Can I reserve a pitch at the boot sale?

Yes. A reserved pitch allows us to hold a place for you from the earlier time of 11am until 12pm. There is a fee of £1 ontop of the ususal pitch fee which is donated to charity.

It's not necessary to book unless you have specific need. It's useful to have a reserved pitch at the car boot sale if you wish to arrive earlier because you have a lot of stuff to stall out or if you think you'll be arriving a little later. It's also a great way of making sure you can get parked up next to friends of family that are stalling out at the car boot sale.

Rusper Car Boot Sale - Can I leave my junk?

Can I leave my junk behind?

No. We are are not able to dispose of rubbish and therefore do not allow sellers to leave their items behind. Please take all your items away for disposal.

The landowner has asked us to remind everyone that leaving rubbish behind at the car boot sale is regarded as 'fly-tipping' which is a criminal offence.

There is a household reycling facility on the A24, just on the edge of Horsham, at the Hop Oast round about - just a few miles from the car boot sale. It is open until 7pm on Sundays through the spring and summer.

We have previously tried to see if a charity is willing to collect unwanted items from stall holders, but without success. If you know anybody willing to set up this service please contact us.


Rusper Car Boot Sale - FAQ - Can I get away early? 

Can I get away earlier?

Yes. This is usually not a problem. The lanes set out at the car boot sale are wide enough for emergency vehicle access and therefore wide enough for early departing stall holders. If you require assistance please get the attention of a car boot marshal who will be only too pleased to assist you.

Do you supply tables?

No. Due to the size of the car boot sale we are no further able to offer this service.

What do I do with my raffle ticket?

Keep hold of it! Your raffle tickets is a receipt for your pitch and also gives you free entry into our stall holders free Sunday draw aswell as our unique car boot sale website mystery raffle!


Rusper Car Boot Sale - FAQ - Charity Stalls

Do you allow Charity Stalls?

Yes. The Rusper Car Boot Sale is always keen to support registered charities and local fund raisers. We offer a 50% pitch discount for charities when you book in advance. Our car boot sale has supported a myriad of good causes and in many cases provided free pitches for entire seasons.

Car Boot Sale - Port-a-loos

Do you provide toilets?

Yes. The Rusper Car Boot Sale provides modern port-a-loos. They are located on the hardstanding area at the top of the 1st stall holders field, near the picnicand catering areas. Our loos are professionaly cleaned and restocked before every event. In 2011 we will be adding a disabled access loo at the boot sale.


Selling home produce such as cakes and vegetables at the car boot sale.

Can I sell home produce at the Car Boot Sale?

Yes. We like to see home produce stalls. Our car boot sale supports genuine home produce such as fruit, vegetables, plants and even home baked cakes.

In the past some stall holders have pushed the limits of what is 'home-produce' and we will not tollerate commercial sales without prior arrangement. There is strictly no sales of refreshments or packaged goods without agreement.

It is vital for all sellers of consumable foods to check that they are acting within the parameters of the law, Environment agency and trading standards.
